Needs Statement
Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and student nurse anesthetists at Baylor College of Medicine need to be regularly updated with new advances and guidelines in anesthesiology to increase clinical knowledge, and implement them in clinical practice to improve competence and enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate a greater understanding of the hemodynamic problems of unprepared single-ventricle physiology.
- Define the three-staged palliation and repair of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
- Outline the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative anesthetic concerns for adult patients with Fontan physiology.
