Needs Statement

Physicians and advanced practice providers in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and other medical specialties need to receive regular updates on clinical best practices. Newly published, clinically relevant, evidence-based, peer-reviewed research articles will be used as an impetus for discussion. The series aims to accelerate the practice of evidence-based medicine across the physician enterprise to expand clinical knowledge, enhance the quality of care, and improve patient outcomes. The series also aims to disseminate disease-specific clinical best practices and to encourage networking and collaboration within and across medical specialties.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify best practices and evidence-based strategies to improve maternal health, morbidity, and mortality, especially in the subpopulations of women at greatest risk.
  • Facilitate greater understanding of the intersection between maternal health and cardiovascular disease.
  • Describe how disparities in cardiovascular health and sociodemographic disadvantages are associated with poor outcomes across the entire maternal health continuum.
  • Recognize the importance of reviewing and applying new clinical evidence to improve healthcare delivery to disadvantaged women with cardiovascular disease.

BCM is committed to sponsoring CE activities that are scientifically based, accurate, current, and objectively presented.

In accordance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support, BCM has implemented a mechanism requiring everyone in a position to control the content of an educational activity (i.e., directors, planning committee members, faculty) to disclose any relevant financial relationships with commercial interests (drug/device companies) and manage/resolve any conflicts of interest prior to the activity. Please answer the questions about balance and objectivity in the activity evaluation candidly.

All of the relevant financial relationships listed for these individuals have been mitigated.
