This Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center Thoracic Tumor Board session will take place on November 4, 2024 at 7:00 a.m. This series is restricted to the tumor board participants and will not be broadcast.

Needs Statement

Oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, radiation oncologists, thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, pathologists, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents, and medical students need to receive regular updates on advances in thoracic cancer research and clinical best practices. The series aims to advance the knowledge of learners, promote an interdisciplinary team approach to thoracic oncology care, facilitate adherence to professional guidelines, enhance communication skills among peers, and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate greater understanding of the organization and function of a thoracic multidisciplinary tumor board.
  • Recognize the importance of consultations with multiple providers when managing patients with thoracic tumors.
  • Identify and assess lung nodules suspicious for lung cancer.
  • Determine whether patients with lung cancer are candidates for surgical resection or stereotactic radiotherapy.
