CME Requirements
Connecticut State Department of Public Health requires 50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ every two years with one credit in each of the following categories every two year licensure period: cultural competency, domestic violence, infectious disease (which includes, but is not limited to, AIDS and HIV), risk management, sexual assault, and behavioral health.
Connecticut Topics Requirements
State-specific requirements for Connecticut Physicians, every 6 years include:
(1) hour on infectious diseases, including acquired immune deficiency syndrome and HIV;
(1) hour on risk management, including prescribing controlled substances and pain management;
(1) hour on sexual assault;
(1) hour on domestic violence;
(1) hour on cultural competency;
(2) hours on behavioral health, including mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans, including (i) determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran, (ii) screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and (iii) suicide prevention training (with first renewal, and every six years).
(8) hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder. This is a one-time requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders), beginning with DEA initial or renewal registrations starting June 27, 2023.
