The Texas Medical Board* requires 48 continuing medical education (CME) credit hours every 2 years. At least 24 of these must be formal AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or 1A credits.

Ethics CME Credit
According to the Texas Medical Board, at least 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ must be focused on ethics. Applicable topics include professional responsibility, risk management, domestic abuse, and child abuse.

Opioid and Pain Management CME Credit
According to the Texas Medical Board, at least 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ must be in pain management and the prescription of opioids.
For physicians practicing in pain clinics, additional requirements apply. Please refer to your medical licensing board.
