Needs Statement

Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty, fellows, and residents who are involved in the care of patients need to be regularly updated with the recent advances and guidelines in the field of care of the acutely ill and injured child, toxicology, social determinants of health, quality improvement, communication skills, and advocacy. The conference aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify the three key questions for the quality improvement model.
  • Describe outcome, process, and balance measures.
  • List three quality improvement tools that can be used to define their current system/state.
  • Differentiate between special cause and common cause variation.
