Needs Statement

Infectious disease physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals in the Texas Medical Center need to receive regular updates on advances in the field of infection prevention. The series will examine a wide range of topics, such as hospital-acquired infections, opportunistic infections, multi-drug antimicrobial resistance, and the principles of antimicrobial stewardship. The series also aims to expand the knowledge of learners, promote guideline-based infection prevention, enhance decision-making surrounding antibiotic usage, and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Enumerate different types of fungal outbreaks.
  • Recognize the conditions that lead to fungal outbreaks.
  • Familiarize in the management strategies for fungal outbreaks in different settings.
