7This Gastroenterology Grand Rounds session will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. Attendance for this session will be available in-person in the McNair Campus 1st Floor Conference Rooms A & B, and remotely through Zoom.

Activity Information

Needs Statement

Gastroenterologists, hepatologists, transplant surgeons, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, fellows, residents, and other healthcare trainees in gastroenterology and related fields need to receive regular updates on research advances regarding the pathophysiology and natural history of gastrointestinal disorders. New areas of investigation will be highlighted, including emerging diagnostic tools, therapeutic techniques, and management strategies. The series aims to expand the knowledge of learners, promote current clinical best practices, enhance the quality of gastroenterology care, and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the epidemiology and new therapeutic approaches in the shifting world of hepatology.
  • Develop a treatment approach to patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and other esophageal disorders including lifestyle modifications, medical therapy, endoscopic interventions, and surgery.
  • Discuss evolving endoscopic techniques and options for esophageal, gastric, and colorectal polyps and other neoplastic lesions.
