Needs Statement
Physicians, advanced practice providers, sonographers, and physician trainees in the field of obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine need to receive regular updates on advances in ultrasound technologies and evidence-based diagnostic techniques. The series aims to improve the ultrasound skills of providers and trainees through hands-on instruction that will be supplemented with self-guided learning and group didactics. The overall goal of the series is to enhance ultrasound diagnosis of fetal abnormalities by improving medical knowledge and sonographer skill level in order to optimize delivery of ultrasound services and maternal and fetal outcomes.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Differentiate between normal and abnormal facial structures during development.
- Recognize the value of prenatal imaging to detect facial anomalies.
- Discuss the embryology and anatomy of the face.
- Describe syndromes associated with facial abnormalities.
