CME Requirements
The Utah Department of Commerce Division of Occupational and Professional Licensure requires 40 hours every two years. At least 34 credits need to be in the Category 1 offerings established by the ACCME. Up to six hours are allowed from the Division of Occupational and Professional License. Up to 15% of the required hours can come from providing volunteer health care services with one hour of continuing education credit rewarded for every 4 hours of volunteer services.

3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in Controlled Substance Prescribing (must be a SBIRT-Training Class; course must cover content in: (a) The scope of the controlled substance abuse problem in Utah and the nation; (b) All elements of the FDA Blueprint for Prescriber Education under the FDA’s Extended Release and Long-Acting Opioid Analgesics Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy; (c) The national and Utah-specific resources available to prescribers to assist in appropriate controlled substance and opioid prescribing; (d) Patient record documentation for controlled substance and opioid-prescribing; (e) Office policies, procedures, and implementation)
≥ 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in Suicide Prevention (must take Board’s online classes in Suicide Prevention [0.5 credits], Supporting patients [0.5 credits] , Collaborative safety planning [0.5 credits], or CALM-Utah[Counseling on Access to Lethal Means; 1.0 credit])
