Every three years, the North Carolina Medical Board requires 60 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ relevant to the physician’s current or intended specialty or area of practice.
North Carolina Topics Requirements
Physicians who prescribe controlled substances must earn ≥ 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in Controlled Substance Prescribing Practices (to include instruction on controlled substance prescribing practices, recognizing signs of the abuse or misuse of controlled substances, and controlled substance prescribing for chronic pain management).
