CME Requirements
The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and Medical Licensure Commission requires 25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ annually, with specific mandates for professional boundaries (2 hours by Dec 31, 2025) and evolving requirements for opioid prescribing/pain management, plus topic-specific training (infectious diseases, risk management, etc.) every six years, while PAs/AAs shift to 50 credits biennially from 2025. First-time renewals have no CME, but other specific content is required periodically.

2 credits in Controlled Substance Prescribing Practices, Recognizing Signs of the Abuse or Misuse of Controlled Substances, or Controlled Substance Prescribing for Chronic Pain Management.
