The Institute for Continuing Professional Development and Quality Improvement in Patient Safety (I-QIPS) was established to meet the need and requests of BCM faculty and staff who expressed their interest and need to expand their knowledge and skills in the scientific application and teaching of quality improvement in patient safety.

Dr. Micheal Fordis, the Institute’s Director, describes how I-QIPS strives to improve care quality by providing instruction to learners at all levels and supporting career growth and scholarship within the field. To that end, I-QIPS offers pathways for education and training for those pursuing careers in QIPS, tools, and experiences to assist in advancement, maintenance of certification, credit for work in quality improvement projects, and visibility for improvement projects.
