Needs Statement

The aim of this series is to improve provider knowledge and willingness to care for adolescents and adults with Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD). This will be an ECHO style series and learners will be able to attend virtually. Each session will include a brief lecture from experienced clinicians on a common primary care topic for the IDD population followed by a patient case with participant discussion to develop practice strategies for primary care teams.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Describe intersectionality of gynecological health and common IDD conditions such as seizures disorders, spina bifida, and cerebral palsy.
  • Assess sexual activity in women with IDD, understanding elevated rates of abuse in this population.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
