Needs Statement

Pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation physicians, residents, fellows, and medical students need to receive regular updates on advances in the diagnosis and management of patients with hematologic disorders and malignancies and associated complications. The series aims to broaden the knowledge base of learners in these topic areas and improve their competencies to enhance the patient care experience and outcomes.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Recall the complexity in considering high risk or investigational curative therapies for sickle cell disease.
  • Describe and discuss the current status of allogeneic bone marrow transplant for sickle cell disease.
  • Summarize the current gene modification therapies and future prospects.
