Needs Statement

Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery need to be regularly updated on the guidelines and advances in orthopedics, as well as in professionalism and wellness strategies. The series aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and encourage them to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify the musculoskeletal elements that contribute to foot and ankle function.
  • Compare the role of osteotomies, fusions, and arthroplasty in the ankle.
  • Explain the rationale for an alternative ankle reconstructive technique and technology.
