The South East Texas Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (SETxGWEP), was funded in 2019 by the United States’ Health Resources Services Administration to prepare the Southeast Texas region with the training and resources to address the specific concerns of aging adults and their caregivers. Needs Statement
This enduring activity is aimed to educate non-geriatric professionals in recognizing and addressing geriatric mental health concerns that can exacerbate physician health conditions. This course will review features of delirium, discuss the difference between delirium and dementia, review the negative impacts of delirium, and provide assessment tools to recognize and diagnose delirium for older adults.

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe critical features of delirium.
- List 3 frequent causes of delirium in older adults.
- Summarize prevention and treatment strategies for delirium.
