Gastroenterology Grand Rounds (January 29, 2026)

Needs Statement

There is a clear educational need for clinicians to enhance their knowledge of current practice guidelines and supporting evidence in gastroenterology and hepatology. Providers must develop greater competence in applying these guidelines to patient care, including selecting and interpreting diagnostic tests and tailoring treatment strategies to individual patient profiles. Additionally, there is a need to improve performance by demonstrating the practical application of guidelines through case presentations and collaborative care planning, ensuring that advances in clinical practice are effectively translated into improved patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of currently available noninvasive tests for hepatic fibrosis.
• Identify gastroenterology and hepatology patients who may benefit from medical or interventional treatments for obesity.
• Differentiate potential candidates for medical, endoscopic, or surgical treatments of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
