In this Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC), Dr. Jessica Lee presents the case of a 24 year-old woman with a chief concern of abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Dr. Catherine Daniel serves as the case discussant, Dr. Neda Zarrin-Khameh serves as the pathology discussant, Dr. Carlos Farinas serves as the radiology discussant, and Dr. Mark Lewis serves as the expert discussant for this case.

Needs Statement

Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students and other healthcare providers across practice areas encounter health care equity issues such as health disparities,social determinants of health, cultural/linguistic competencies, and social justice. The series aims to broaden the awareness of learners in these topic areas provide strategies to address these issues as they arise.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Formulate a concise summary statement and differential diagnosis for a patient with multiple disparate symptoms.
  • Explain the most common causes of liver lesions and systemic symptoms in a young patient.
  • Explain the initial workup for a patient with suspected carcinoid syndrome.
