This Citywide Infectious Diseases Conference will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Attendance for this conference will be available in-person at Main Baylor Campus in room M.112, and virtually through Zoom.

Needs Statement
Infectious diseases faculty, fellows, residents, medical students, and pharmacists who are involved in the care of patients need to be regularly updated with the recent advances and guidelines in the field of infectious disease, including hospital-acquired infections, antimicrobial resistance, infections related to chemotherapy and immunomodulators, and travel-acquired infections. The conference aims to increase clinical knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Identify and implement current clinical best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of hospital-acquired infections.
- Distinguish evidence-based strategies for diagnosing and treating COVID-19 and other viral respiratory infections.
- Recognize the various clinical manifestations of common opportunistic infections in patients with HIV/AIDS and in transplant recipients.
- Develop strategies to recognize and treat multidrug-resistant infections.
