Activity Information

Needs Statement

Anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, certified anesthesiology assistants, and anesthesiology fellows and residents need to receive regular updates on recent advances in the ever-evolving field of cardiovascular anesthesiology. The aim of the series is to review past and current primary literature in the field, evaluate the latest developments in clinical research and anesthetic techniques, and recognize the historical context out of which new treatment paradigms emerge. The series also aims to expand clinical knowledge, disseminate evidence-based clinical practices, enhance the quality of cardiovascular anesthesiology care, and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives

Impact of Aortic Grafts on Arterial Pressure: A Computational Fluid Dynamics Study

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • List the early outcomes of importance for patients undergoing thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) extent 1 repair.
  • Identify predictors for operative death and adverse outcomes of open TAAA extent 1 repair.
  • Describe trends in death, repair-free survival, and repair failure in patients with heritable thoracic aortic disease undergoing TAAA extent 1 repair.

Outcomes After Extent I Thoracoabdominal Aortic Repair: Focus on Heritable Aortic Disease

BCM is committed to sponsoring CE activities that are scientifically based, accurate, current, and objectively presented.

In accordance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support, BCM has implemented a mechanism requiring everyone in a position to control the content of an educational activity (i.e., directors, planning committee members, faculty) to disclose any relevant financial relationships with commercial interests (drug/device companies) and manage/resolve any conflicts of interest prior to the activity. In addition, BCM has requested activity faculty/presenters to disclose to participants any unlabeled use or investigational use of pharmaceutical/device products; to use scientific or generic names (not trade names) in referring to products; and, if necessary to use a trade name, to use the names of similar products or those within a class.
