This Barrow Neurological Institute - Neurosurgery Grand Rounds will take place on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. Attendance will be available in-person at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona; and virtually through Zoom.

Needs Statement

Physicians, residents, fellows, and medical students need to receive regular updates on advances in neurosurgery to manage patients with neurological disorders. Emerging discoveries in neurosurgical research and clinical practice impact patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and practice patterns. The series will address the latest evidence-based research and best practice recommendations and provide practical examples learners need to assess and integrate medical knowledge into clinical decision-making.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Recount the definition and recent advances in global surgery and neurosurgery.
  • Describe the origin and use of the term "moonshot" in association with progress in science and medicine.
  • Outline compelling need and reasons for neurosurgeons to organize behind this ambitious goal.
