Design Courses
Resources for Course Developers
As a healthcare provider, you may identify opportunities to educate colleagues on new guidelines or techniques, disseminate research to a broader audience, fill a practice gap, implement quality improvement methods, or innovate clinician learning. The Division of Continuing Professional Development (DCPD) at Baylor College of Medicine will support you through the process of turning an idea into an accredited educational activity.
Improving care delivery requires reexamining the way we deliver medical training. Baylor Clinician Resources provides resources for designing, implementing, and evaluating clinician education for new activities in an array of formats: live, enduring, and regularly scheduled series (RSS). Complementing these resources is a section on Professional Development. There you can access resources and tools to support course development, improve pedagogical methods, incorporate instructional design, and support software application development.

Developing a Course for Credit: An Overview
We hope you'll join us in innovating clinical education and improving patient care. We appreciate your interest in accrediting your course with Baylor College of Medicine and look forward to guiding your course development process to promote safe and effective patient care for our community.
Educational activity types include:
- Live Activities (In-Person, Hybrid, or Online Conferences)
- Enduring Material Activities
- Regularly Scheduled Series (Grand Rounds, Case Conferences, Morbidity & Mortality, & Tumor Board)
DCPD will work with you to meet the certifying board's requirements and will collaborate with other continuing education providers as needed for credit types not included in the DCPD portfolio.
The steps and timeline for developing and launching an educational activity generally include: submitting an application to DCPD, establishing a financial agreement with clear pricing for the activity type and relevant add-on services, leading a kickoff meeting (or town hall for RSS series) to develop activity components, conducting the activity and finally, evaluating it.
